City of San Francisco » Climate Action Strategy

The San Francisco Climate Action Strategy is a greenhouse gas reduction initiative adopted by the City and County of San Francisco. It aims to reduce the City’s greenhouse gas emissions to 20% below 1990 levels. As part of the Arup team, Percolate collaborated with stakeholders to ensure that technical subject matter was easy to understand, while conveying vision and policy to staff members, elected officials, and members of the public. Infographics were used to quantify data and help bring emphasis to targets and goals. The screens above represent some of the page compositions, graphic styling, and illustration styles, the majority of which were applied to the final publication.

University of California, Berkeley » Landscape Heritage Plan

The Landscape Heritage Plan is a planning document that was created for the University of California Berkeley. This plan examines key characteristics of the historic campus “core” and provides guidance for its continued development in a manner that respects and builds upon its unique landscape legacy. Collaborating with the Sasaki team, Cody Andresen designed both the printed and interactive document format, as well as a majority of the planning map graphics and illustrative maps.

San Francisco Museum of Modern Art » Website

SFMOMA, San Francisco’s modern art museum, needed a new site that communicated the value of their perspective on modern art through their exhibitions and events. The design needed to be contemporary, edgy, and exciting, while remaining easy to use. This project was done while Laura Haertling was a creative director at Hot Studio. On this project, Laura also functioned as the primary visual designer.

El Museo Del Barrio » Website

El Museo del Barrio, New York’s leading Latino cultural institution, needed a site that would communicate the artistic, cultural, and community attributes of the physical museum, located within Museum Mile in New York City. This project was done while Laura Haertling was a principal and creative director at Hot Studio in New York City. On this project, Laura, with Cathy Lo, was one of the primary visual designers.

Gap Red » Website

The Gap, Inc. is an American worldwide clothing and accessories retailer. Gap Red’s co-branded site was created to participate as a key partner in Project Red. With Bono as its evangelist, half of the profits from Gap Red products were donated to the Global Fund in order to help African women and children with HIV and AIDS. This project was done while Laura Haertling was a design director at Hot Studio in San Francisco. MarketWatch is a financial information website that provides business news, analysis, and stock market data. MarketWatch’s redesign increased user engagement, better surfaced existing features, and created new features, concepts, and advertising units. Architecture for Humanity, is a non-profit organization that seeks architectural solutions to humanitarian crises in an effort to bring design services to communities in need. With TED wish-recipient Sinclair, Hot Studio created the Open Architecture Network. The platform was designed as a web-based system connecting architects and design professionals around the world. This project was done while Laura Haertling was a design director at Hot Studio in San Francisco. On this project, Laura, with Kim Heilman, functioned as one of the visual designers.

Nike, Inc. fosters a culture of invention, while creating products, services, and experiences for today’s athlete. Nike was looking to breathe some life and personality into nikebiz.com as they needed to communicate their personality and tell the story of their hero products. They asked Hot Studio to contribute a number of perspectives that reflected these goals. This project was done while Laura was a design director at Hot Studio in San Francisco. On this project, Laura also functioned as the primary visual designer.
