Smithsonian Institution » Visitor Survival Guide

The Smithsonian Institution, established in 1846, is a group of museums and research centers administered by the government of the United States. Percolate collaborated with the Smithsonian to create the Visitor Survival Guide, a user-friendly 36-page guide designed to quickly orient the Smithsonian visitor to the diverse collection of Smithsonian destinations. The Smithsonian was looking to project a warmer, more inclusive, and playful experience. The guide included over 100 original illustrations and icons that were also used as part of the Smithsonian’s wayfinding system in the Visitor Center and throughout the National Mall.

Nemetschek Allplan » Software Icons

Nemetschek Allplan is a platform software used by architects, civil engineers, contractors, and facility managers for designing and managing buildings. Allplan went through an extensive redesign, including a full redesign of its iconography system. With UX-FLO, Percolate provided visual design and concept development for over 1700 icons.

Redbubble » Email Blasts + Apparel Design

Redbubble is an online marketplace for print-on-demand products, based on user-submitted artwork. Percolate collaborated with Redbubble to generate branded email blasts. Percolate also creates images that are applied to products, including t-shirts, pillows, bags, cups, etc. Many of these images have been featured on Redbubble’s website.

Viscape » Branding, Signage, Print & Interactive Design

Viscape was an online community where people could find, buy, sell, and rent vacation properties. Viscape’s vision was to create a state-of-the-art site that would allow users to find the perfect getaway, while allowing owners to manage their properties and solicit advice from the community. The Viscape identity is comprised of a suite of characters engaged in activities that take place in a variety of vacation destinations. This project was done while Laura Haertling was a design director at Hot Studio in San Francisco. Laura designed the identity and worked, with Cathy Lo, to design the website.

City of San Francisco » Climate Action Strategy

The San Francisco Climate Action Strategy is a greenhouse gas reduction initiative adopted by the City and County of San Francisco. It aims to reduce the City’s greenhouse gas emissions to 20% below 1990 levels. As part of the Arup team, Percolate collaborated with stakeholders to ensure that technical subject matter was easy to understand, while conveying vision and policy to staff members, elected officials, and members of the public. Infographics were used to quantify data and help bring emphasis to targets and goals. The screens above represent some of the page compositions, graphic styling, and illustration styles, the majority of which were applied to the final publication.
